Ashatanga Yoga in Greece with Adam Keen

Friday June 5th to Thursday June 18th, 2026

(Week 1: Friday June 5th to Thursday 11th | Week 2: Friday June 12th to Thursday 18th)

Join us for Ashtanga in Greece with two weeks of non-residential sessions where you can enjoy learning and take time to relax, unwind and explore the beauty of the Peloponnese. Ideal for a semi-independent yoga holiday and a great way to explore more of Adam’s teachings while meeting like minded friends.

The weeks will run from Friday evening to Thursday evening and will consist of a weekend of workshops, 6 mornings of Mysore Ashtanga self-practice and 6 evening sessions with a focus on meditation, breathwork and discussion.

Our location is Nafplio, a beautiful town in eastern Peloponnese in mainland Greece close to important archaeological sites, such as Mycenae and Epidaurus. The Old Town is a marvel to walk around with elegant mansions and large squares to unwind over a coffee or enjoy home cooked Greek food. The coastal walk takes you to some lovely beaches and is a treat in itself.

Everyone is welcome and our aim is always to be inclusive and avoid any cliquey vibe. We do ask that you have memorised the Ashtanga sun salutation sequence and most of the standing sequence. Adam teaches all abilities from those new to or returning to the practice as well as students doing advanced practice.

Nafplio and Surrounding Area

Nafplio is a town in the Peloponnese brimming with life that will entice you with its mystical ambience. The first capital of Greece it is often missed by international visitors yet, is a favourite with locals being less than 2 hours’ drive from Athens. For the Venetians it was the ‘Naples of the East’ and for everyone an incredible place.

Nafplio oozes charm and viewed from above the tile roofs, grand homes and a blue-green sea is a site to behold. Three famous castles, Bourtzi, Akronafplia and Palamidi, add a sense of drama to this stunning seaport town, consisting of fortresses, neoclassical buildings, old neighbourhoods, wide sidewalks and large squares.

The coastal walk along Arvanitia promenade, with its view of the Argolic Gulf, will become a daily ritual. Beginning at the waterfront the 1km walk takes you to Arvanitias Square.

Nearby beaches include Vivari, Kondyli, and Kantia. You will also find a nice beach offering all kinds of facilities in Tolo, only 15 min away from the town and if you are looking for a day trip you can book a boat tour to Hydra & Spetses from Nafplio.

About the Studio

Modern Yogi Nafplio was a dream come true in the summer of 2023 for two Athenians, Dimitris and Marianna, along with their two daughters and their dog Daphne. They left behind the bustling city to create their own oasis in the centre of Nafplio.

We are delighted to be working with them in their beautiful studio. They will be on hand to help you with recommendations and outdoor activities that they also plan.

Places to Stay

There are plenty of nearby guesthouses and Airbnb accommodations to suit all budgets within Nafplio within walking distance to the shala and all the amenities and cafes. As with anywhere we suggest early booking to get the best ones.

We will also set up a WhatsApp group so you can communicate with other students who might want to share accommodation and get a feel of the group before you arrive.

About the teacher:

Adam Keen has been a yoga practitioner since 1999 and has taught Ashtanga yoga internationally for over twenty years. His style is open, non-dogmatic and eclectic while remaining rooted in an appreciation of the benefits of the method of ashtanga as he learnt it in Mysore, India.

In 2012 he completed the Advanced A sequence with Sharath who granted him authorization to teach. Adam meets all students where they are, hopefully, with humour, kindness and inspiration, holding a safe and supportive space for personal enquiry. Equally at home teaching all levels, he gives all students attention and interest. He is democratic in his approach and kind and believes that the practice should not feel like a test.

Coming from an academic background in philosophy and a professional one as a chef, he is knowledgeable, practical, and relatable in his approach. Many consider him humorous too.

Adam and his wife Theresa run the online yoga platform Keen on Yoga and he hosts the Keen on Yoga Podcast interviewing many of the world’s most renowned Ashtanga teachers and philosophical academics.

FROM ATHENS ELEFTHERIOS VENIZELOS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO NAFPLIO BY BUS
Two connecting bus trips will take you from the airport to Nafplio changing at Stathmos Kiffisos, the major bus terminal in Athens.

Take bus number X93 from just outside the airport’s arrival hall to Stathmos Kiffisos. Buy tickets at the airport before entering. The trip lasts somewhere between 30-60 minutes, depending on traffic and costs approx. €5.

At Stathmos Kiffisos terminal find the sign that says Nafplio / Argolida and buy your tickets there.

The buses go hourly on the half hour from morning to evening (some exceptions). going via Corinth / Isthmos and Argos. Nafplio is the terminus.

This journey takes between 2 hours – 2 hours 20 min. Cost approx. €13, less if buying return ticket.

CENTRAL ATHENS TO NAFPLIO BY BUS
Bus No. 051 from the intersection of Zinonos and Menandrou Streets, south of Omonia, will bring you to Stathmos Kiffisos.

Or taxi from the centre to Stathmos Kiffisos costs between €5 – €10.

TAXI FROM ATHENS AIRPORT TO NAFPLIO
The simplest way is to get your hotel in Nafplio to pre-book a taxi for you or contact greek-taxi.gr. A taxi trip costs approximately €150 euros and lasts a bit over one and a half hour.

BY CAR FROM ATHENS AIRPORT TO NAFPLIO
If you rent a car at the airport, it’s easy to find the way to Nafplio. From the airport you drive directly onto the motorway and follow the signs first to Elefsina, then Corinth, and exit the highway on the exit of Ancient Nemea and Nafplio. After that just follow the signs to Nafplio and you are there. The road is generally very good, except for a short distance between Corinth and Nafplio which is fairly narrow and winding. Calculate 1.5 hours if you keep the speed limit.

ALTERNATIVE AIRPORT
Kalamata airport could be used as a secondary option but the transfers to Nafplio are not direct, and they take longer. We do not suggest this option unless you rent a car or take a taxi to Nafplio which will take approx. 2 hours.

When you arrive to Nafplio you do not need a car or a bus as everything is in walking distance.

Payments
Attendance is dependant on the full payment being made before the course begins and are made with a credit card and secure server. If you are unable to make your payment this way, contact us so we can provide an alternative option.

You can reserve your place with a deposit payment of €200. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferrable. The balance is due on May 24th, 2026 and will be set up automatically to be deducted from the card you used to make the deposit payment.
